August 2024 Tasker of the Month

Congrats to Kayla, our August Tasker of the Month!

“I became a Tasker a couple of years ago after taking a Financial Peace University Class by Dave Ramsey. I wanted to pay off my credit cards to get out of debt and stay there. Because I didn’t want to go into debt buying school supplies, sports fees, and new school sneakers for my kids, I knew that Hyer was a great way to pick up shifts, create those sinking funds, and be able to pay upfront for things that I needed. I did the same thing for all of my holiday spending and my family vacation. Hyer helps me avoid using credit cards to buy the things I need and want for my family. Being a single mom is hard, and Hyer really fills the gap!

There are two things I enjoy most about being a Takser. Number one, I meet really great and amazing people. I love building out my network, learning about different companies and industries, and learning how to do new things. Number two, I was able to cancel my gym membership! I typically burn over 2,000 calories on any given shift and get between 8,000 and 11,000 steps in. Hyer has been a great way to really get in those high-volume workouts that keep me strong, healthy, and confident. I’m 51 years old and feeling better than ever!

Also, Hyer keeps me from going into debt on things like vacation, household costs, and taking great care of my kids. When I want to save up for major purchases, I create a sinking fund. Working with Hyer not only gives me the flexibility to pick up convenient shifts but also helps me save for major purchases, making my financial goals more achievable.

If I could share advice with fellow Taskers, I would suggest always being early enough to go to the bathroom, fill up your water bottle, and get to the point of contact BEFORE your shift starts. Shake hands with a new supervisor, look them in the eyes, and smile. When they show you what they want you to do, keep in mind that you’ll probably be unsupervised, so start off on the right foot by thanking them and asking if you can repeat the task to make sure that you have it right. This will build their confidence in your ability to work unsupervised.

At the end of the shift, seek them out and thank them for selecting you for the shift. Have photos ready of the work you completed on the shift and ask if they’d like to see them. Let them know you appreciate the work and what you are using the money for (this will build a strong relationship because most people will appreciate the fact that you are working so hard (to pay the rent, save up for a car, make ends meet, build your retirement nest egg, etc), and let them know that you’d be very happy to come back for future shifts because of the great experience you had on this shift.

Amazing advice, from an amazing Tasker!
